     Besides being a place, what is a clubhouse? Who belongs?

       The Wallingford House Clubhouse for members with a mental-emotional disorder, is structured around a work-ordered day that replicates routines and expectations from the actual world of work. The food service and business units offer clubhouse members daily tasks in a structured and supportive environment. Members work side-by-side with staff to develop work skills which are relevant to jobs in the local community.

     What does a clubhouse do? What happens at a clubhouse?

       In particular, the Wallingford House Clubhouse serves lunch on a daily basis, operates a snack bar beginning at 8:00 AM, tracks daily attendance, has a reception desk to greet members, and puts out a weekly newsletter. The business unit is equipped with computers, a fax and copy machine, and video equipment. The food service unit includes a commercial kitchen, a storage pantry, and cash registers. The clubhouse is also responsible for its own budget and bank account, menu planning and food purchases, and providing orientation and outreach to all it's members.

     Besides job readiness, what does a clubhouse provide?

       In addition to job preparation and a work-ordered day, Wallingford Clubhouse offers social activities on Thursday afternoons. Together these activities provide a highly supportive program that inspires and supports members, and readies them for employment in the community.

     When are the services and programs available to members?

       Members can attend the clubhouse up to five days per week and five hours per day, organized around a 9:30 AM meeting and signing up for tasks. The clubhouse operates from Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Members are encouraged and welcome to return to the clubhouse once employed, in order to receive additional training and participate in the on-going support provided by the clubhouse.
